Journey through Lent with OLL!

Our Lady of Lourdes has many opportunities for you to grow closer with Jesus this Lent:

We have Devotional Books for daily reading to increase spirituality in the Church.

As we fast and offer ourselves and our desires up, we have Rice Bowl boxes to take the monetary value of those sacrifices and feed others in need.

Adoration is available from 9am until 6pm each Wednesday to take time to just be present with Our Lord.  Remember at least two must be present when the Sacrament is Exposed.

The Parish is accepting non-perishable food donations to help fill the local food pantries.  Please feel free to drop them off in the baskets in the Narthex.

Please Remember to pray for those in RCIA who will be entering into the Catholic faith at Easter.

Our Lady of Lourdes has many opportunities for you to grow closer with Jesus this Lent:

Ash Wednesday, Feb 14, and Good Friday, Mar 30, are days of fast and abstinence. For more information about fasting and abstinence click Here.

All the Fridays of Lent are days of abstinence.

Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter.

Souper Bowl of Caring

This is an initiative to raise non-perishable goods for the needy on Super Bowl Sunday.  Please bring canned goods and other non-perishables to Mass with you the weekend of Feb 3rd and 4th to be distributed by Daily Bread to those in need.

Virtue of the Week: Knowledge

Is the gift of the Holy Spirit which brings us to learn more about God’s plan and leads us to wisdom and understanding.

“And this is my prayer: that your love may increase ever more and more in knowledge and every kind of perception, to discern what is of value, so that you may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ . . .” – Phil 1:9

Almighty God, there is so much to learn about the wonders of your world.  Open my mind and heart to seek knowledge, and to continue to grow in my faith each day. Amen.

Happy New Year from Ireland!

Happy New Year!

As I look over the moon-shadowed fields behind my family home in Ballacolla, Co Laois, Ireland I pray a blessing for 2018!

On 2 January 2018 there is a full moon. As the lunar cycle lasts 29.5 days there will be a second full moon in January, on the 31st. As you know, a second full moon in the same calendar month is traditionally referred to as a blue moon. As February follows with only 28 days it will not have a full moon in 2018 and the next full moon will be on 2 March. This will be followed by a full moon on 31 March, another blue moon! This is a rare occurrence to enable poets and wordsmiths to ply their trade as the muses inspire.

May 2018 lift hearts and minds; may it forge hope and communion; may it be abundant with blessings for all.

Happy New Year from Ballacolla, Co Laois, Ireland!

Blessings to all as we embrace a new year. Fr Karl.
