At Our Lady of Lourdes, preparation for the Sacraments is an important part of our parish’s mission to form disciples of Jesus Christ. We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith, and our sacramental preparation program is designed to support families as they grow together in their relationship with Christ and His Church.
In addition to participating in Religious Education classes, children and their families take part in parish gatherings that provide spiritual formation, catechesis, and opportunities for prayer as they prepare to celebrate the Sacraments. Families are also encouraged to continue their faith journey at home through prayer, Scripture, and activities that reinforce the lessons learned in class.
Children typically celebrate the Sacrament of First Reconciliation during their second-grade year, preparing their hearts to receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. They then celebrate their First Holy Communion in May, when they receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time and are welcomed more fully into the sacramental life of the Church.
We look forward to accompanying your family on this sacred journey of faith and celebrating these joyful milestones together as a parish community.
